Sacred
Heart School
Our Philosophy and Mission
Sacred Heart is a Catholic school whose mission is to nurture students through the growth and development of their God-given abilities and talents by meeting their various, unique and individual physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual needs in the context of a comprehensive, quality educational program.
We believe that ....
Each student should be valued as a person of dignity, capable of becoming
a confident, self directed, lifelong learner.
All educational endeavors should reflect Catholic virtues and values.
The most positive impact on students occurs when parents, students,
community and staff, as a family, involve themselves in positive
personal relationships with one another in an atmosphere of cooperation
and respect.
All educational decisions should reflect an appreciation of the significance
of child development.
All instructional planning should be rooted in prescribed standards,
proceed from a clear picture of students’ existing knowledge and skills
and be revised and adjusted according to student progress.
Instructional practices should incorporate a variety of learning activities,
strategies and assessments in order for students to clearly demonstrate
their achievement of the expectations for learning.
A high degree of engagement in the learning process, characterized
by a spirit of curiosity, best supports students in the development
of creative, critical and divergent thinking skills which are essential
to their achievement.
| *The New Crusaders are caring
people, dedicated to the Catholic faith who value their diversity as a
gift from God.
*The emblem of the Sacred Heart New Crusaders appears on a shield, signifying faithfulness to the teachings of Jesus Christ. *The cross in the upper corner is a reminder that, though confident in one's abilities, one must remain humble, just as Jesus humbled himself for us. *The Fleur-De-Lis in the lower corner, a symbol of the Trinity, signifies one's responsibility to assure that faith is the basis of all of one's actions. *The school initials also call to mind the three attributes of a Sacred Heart school student: Scholarship, Sportsmanship and Heart. *The New Crusaders, at their best, are responsible students, good sports and worthy competitors who encourage and support one another. *They endeavor to serve God by serving others humbly, always with an open heart. *The color red signifies the courage to live by one's beliefs, in or out of the classroom and in all athletic endeavors. |
