BASKETBALL SIGN UPS ARE OCTOBER 4-5 FROM 6-7:30 PM

Welcome to the St. Matthias School's Sports Page. At St. Matthias, not only do we pride ourselves on our academic excellence, but also our high-quality athletic program. From reserve all the way through varsity, our teams have always been contenders, and many have become city champs. Our coaches not only teach the children how to play the game, but also how to work as a team, and do the absolute best that they can. Our coaches help prepare a child for higher competition, so that if they choose to join a high school team, they will be ready for the challenge. Most importantly however, all of athletes have a fun experience.

SMAC

The St. Matthias Athletic Club (SMAC) oversees all athletic teams of the school. It also maintains athletic fields, pays for official fees, uniforms, and equipment through various fundraisers. SMAC meets the second Monday of each month at 7:00 PM at St. Matthias and all school parents are welcome. If you would like more information, contact the school office.  

Sports Commissioners Needed!

Sports Commissioners are needed for the upcoming year.  The sports we offer include:

Soccer            July - September
Volleyball        August - November
Football           August - November
Basketball       November through February
Softball            March through May
Baseball          March through May
Track                No commissioner needed

The duties of the commissioner are:

  1. Help coordinate, and oversee the selection of coaches, tryouts (if needed) and determine the number of players of a tem and how many teams to field.

  2. Maintain a list of all past, present, and potential coaches.

  3. Coordinate with the equipment manager the needs of the sport prior to each season.

  4. Register athletes and maintain rosters of all team entered with the Diocese.

  5. Insure all athletes meet Diocesan eligibility standards.

  6. Field complaints and suggestions for their sport, and present them to the board if necessary.

  7. Any other duties that pertain to their particular sport.
