Since we started our scrip program in January 2006, St. Matthias scrip has
been a great success. Over $1,670 dollars has been credited towards students'
tuition and into the Parish Tuition Assistance fund. During the school year
scrip is ordered bi-weekly (please see the schedule) .
What is Scrip?
Scrip is a term that means "substitute money." When you purchase
scrip, you're purchasing gift certificates and gift cards that are used just
like cash. You can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing,
and other essentials -- with every purchase, a portion earns money for St.
Matthias. The purchases would be made at local retailers that you may already
shop at.
How does the order process work?
An enrollment form needs to be completed and returned. Please fill out a
new form even if you participated last year. Please specify on your
enrollment form where you'd like profit to go (i.e., Parish Tuition Assistance
Fund or Student Tuition). If you specify your profit to go towards tuition for a
specific student please write the student's name/grade on the form. You may also
choose to remain anonymous.
Order forms are available at the certificate table before each Mass. They are
also sent home with the student, attached to the weekly parent newsletter, or
via email.
Each family will have the opportunity to select from the list of retailers
and amounts of .scrip" they would like to purchase.
Please return completed order forms (along with a check made payable to
"St. Matthias Scrip Program") to either the school office or the
certificate table before the published order deadline.
The orders are submitted the week after the due date and are available for
pickup at the certificate table (the following weekend) or via the student the
following Monday.
Credit will be distributed quarterly (November, February and May).
Please remember - Scrip is
cash - if you lose it, it is gone. There is no way to track the cards. Only
certain retailers participate -please refer to the order form to see what is
available. Discount percentages vary by retailer - restaurants tend to have
higher discount amounts and larger chain stores tend to have lower.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact the school. You may
also email your questions to smscrip@sbcglobal.net
Thank You!
