Feast of Blessed Nicholas Albergati

Dear Parents,

Blessed Nicholas was born in Bologna, Italy. His family could afford to send him to the university when he began to study law. But then after a few years, he decided to not become a lawyer. At the age of twenty, he joined the Carthusian order. In 1417, this Carthusian monk was chosen to be bishop of his native diocese. He lived a modest life and began to visit the people of his diocese, the poorest families first. He then became a cardinal in 1426 and was known to be wise and spiritual. The popes would consult with him on important matters. Nicholas died in 1443.
