Admissions Priority
    The admission of students to St. Francis de
Sales School for Kindergarten- Grade 8 will follow these priorities:

1.      Children from families registered, active and participating in St. Francis de Sales parish with children already enrolled in the school.

2.      Children from families registered, active and participating with other Catholic parishes with children already enrolled in the school.

3.      Children from families of other faiths with children already enrolled in the school.

4.      Children from families registered with St. Francis de Sales parish with no other children enrolled in the school whose first child is just reaching school age.

5.      Children from families moving into St. Francis de Sales parish who have been in Catholic schools at their previous location if they were available.

6.      Children from families registered with other Catholic parishes with no other children enrolled in the school.

7.      Children from families of other faiths with no other children enrolled in the school.

St. Francis de Sales will only accept children from another diocesan school if tuition and fees are current and in good standing.

Registration Information

Kindergarten Admission Process
Children entering Kindergarten must be five (5) years of age by September 30th.  A Kindergarten Readiness List is available in the school office.

When to register:
Families who are active in St. Francis de Sales Parish will be accepted for registration for Kindergarten for the next school year prior to March 1.

Families who have not been active in the parish may pre-register their child before March 1 and will be accepted on March 1 on a first-come basis, according to their registration date until the classes are full.  These families will be notified if their registration has been accepted.  If no space is available, the registration fee will be returned.
 

Complete registration forms and submit with:
• Copy of birth certificate and baptismal record (if the child was not baptized in St. Francis de Sales Parish).
• Medical records
• Before a child may attend any school in the state of Ohio s/he must meet the following vaccination requirements:
    -- four or more doses of DPT
    -- three dose series of Hep B
    -- three or more doses of Polio vaccine
    -- two doses of MMR

A family interview and Kindergarten screening will be scheduled.

A letter regarding the status of student's registration will be sent from the school office.

 

Grades 5-8 Admission Process
The following admission policy shall pertain to all students in grades 5-8 who have not been previously enrolled in St. Francis de Sales School.

1.      Parents must release any previous school records including:

2.      The student and parent or guardian must participate in an interview with the St. Francis de Sales School Principal and other appropriate school/parish staff members concerning their desire to enroll in the school.
 

3.      A copy of the student's most recent report card will be required at the point of interview.  Students may be asked to take a reading or math exam for the grade level to which s/he is requesting enrollment, which would be used to determine how well the student is prepared for a particular grade level in reading and math.
 

4.      The student must submit at least one letter of reference.  This letter can be provided by a pastor, teacher, school principal, scout leader, or other adult familiar with the student.
 

5.      References from the student's previous school regarding the student's personal and social characteristics will be requested.

All new students will be put on a probationary period of eighteen weeks from the date  of admission. 

The principal may call a conference with the child's parent or guardian any time during this period to discuss the student's future at St. Francis de Sales School.
