INFORMATION FOR SENIORS

All seniors should visit the college campus to which they are applying and talk to an admissions
representative and financial aid representative at the college.

Scholarships and colleges often require teacher recommendations to be submitted with the application.
Students should go to teachers who know them well and ask for recommendations. They should give
     teachers at least a 2 – 3 week notice.

There are many college applications in the guidance office and, of course, many can be completed
online or downloaded. Look at the applications early so you do not miss the application and financial
aid deadlines. Often honors programs or specialized academic programs have earlier deadlines than
     the college itself.

Scholarships that are local are announced. Some will be posted on the guidance bulletin board and a
list of yearly scholarships can be found in the guidance office. Students can help themselves to the
scholarship applications that are available. As soon as new scholarships come to my office the list is
updated and posted. Announcements are made to make students aware of the updated list. You may
also want to check the Muskingum County Community Foundation Scholarship Central web site:

www.mccf.org/scholarshios.htm  .

Seniors can request their transcripts at any time. Please allow 2 weeks to obtain them. Seniors are
allowed up to 8 transcripts without cost, plus 2 certified final transcripts after graduation. Transcripts
     include all high school grades,
proficiency results, cumulative GPA and rank and test scores (including
ACT and SAT). AP scores will be posted upon request.

TESTING
The PSAT (Practice SAT) will be given to all Juniors on Wednesday, October 17. This will take place
in Dury Hall and will consume the first 5 periods of the day. The cost of the test will be $13.00 Money
must be turned in to Ms. LaPlante by October 10. All juniors have received a student/parent guide
to the PSAT. Please request it from your child.

Sophomores who also want to take this test for practice may do so by giving their money to Ms. LaPlant
by October 10. Those sophomores with 3.5+ GPA’s should seriously consider taking the test. They
should pay early as juniors are given top priority and space is limited. They will receive the student/parent
guide upon payment of the test fee.

When taken in the junior year, the PSAT results determine National Merit status. Some colleges (if
students indicate their permission on the test) will send information to
students whose scores are
compatible with admission to the college. Please
remember that PSAT scores are posted on the
     transcripts UNLESS the parent
requests otherwise. You will have time to see the scores before you
     need to make
that decision.
