WEBSITE INFORMATION

   
Listed are two useful websites that students and parents can use for college information.

     The first website is:  www.ohioprivatecolleges.com . It is sponsored by the Association of Ohio's
     Private Colleges and Universities of Ohio. This website provides a list of academic majors, athletic
     programs, financial aid opportunities. Also this website is a link to the home pages, admissions
     and financial aid offices of Ohio's 52 independent college and universities. The 2007 - 2008 Private
     College Visitation DAs list is also included in this website.

     The second website is for sophomores and juniors who took the PSAT in October. This website is:
     www.collegeboard.com/psatextra  . Called My College Quick Start,  this website is the newest
     addition to the set of free resources students receive by taking the PSAT test.  My College Quick
     Start is a personalized planning kit based on each individual student's test results. One of the
     features of My College Quick Start provides is personalized and detailed lists of colleges, initially
     based on the student's preferred major and location. It can be modified through custom search
     criteria such as distance form home, test scores, and school size. Students will receive their
     PSAT results  before Christmas break. Students and parents should be able to access this
     exciting new tool available to them at this time.

ACADEMIC AWARDS

     The Fall Academic Awards Assembly, letters and pins were given to students based on achieving at
     least a 3.5 GPA in the previous academic year. Students who met this requirement for the first time
     received a letter. Students who already had a letter received a pin. (Only grades earned at Bishop
     Rosecrans count towards these awards.)

STUDENT RECOGNITION

     HUGH O'BRIAN AWARD
    
     Katie Peifer has been selected as the Bishop Rosecrans High School's Hugh O'Brian Ambassador.
     Katie was chosen based on her essay and leadership skills. Michelle Colopy was chosen as the
     alternate. The Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership is a dynamic, interactive, educational program
     designed to prepare our country's youth to become effective, ethical leaders in their home, school,
     work place and community. Outstanding students who attend the three or four day seminars
     interact with leaders in business, government, education, media and non profits: its people, and
     their role within the world community. Since 1959, more that 355,000 students have attended
     HOBY's Leadership seminars. Last year, over 8,500 high school sophomores attended one of the 71
    seminars throughout the United States. This years seminar will be held at Denison University in May.

     NATIONAL MERIT COMMENDED STUDENT AWARD

     Jason Shaffer was named a National Merit Scholarship Commended Student based on his
     outstanding performance on the 2006 PSAT. Over 1.4 million students took the 2006 PSAT.
     Jason's scores on the PSAT placed him in athe ninety-seventh percentile of all students who
     took the PSAT.
