Child Development

This course explores development of the whole child, from birth ot school age with an emphasis on preschool children. The course offers information on development and how it occurs including discussions on attachment, autonomy, initiative and self-esteem. The influence of the family on development is explored as well as the role of child care providers. The course examines parenting issues and discipline for young children. The course is divided into 3 lab days per week and 2 lecture days per week. Lab attendance is very important an is provided through the Saint Nicholas Preschool.
