Barb Cooper, Principal
Passed: August 30, 2009
May She Rest in Peace
Interview with the Principal
How long have
you been principal ?
Answer: 9 wonderful years
What did you do
before coming a principal?
Answer: I taught at
Corpus Christi for 16 years. Corpus Christi and St. Lads joined together
and I taught there for 4 more years. I came to Christ the King in 1993
where I taught 3rd and 5th grades for 6 years. In 1999 I was the 6th grade
teacher, librarian and Dean of Students. In 2000 I became principal of
Christ the King School. As the fifth year of All Saints Academy, I am in
my 5th year here. I am in my 10th year as a building principal.
What do you enjoy
about being a principal?
Answer: I love the
students and being around them each day. It is still wonderful even if
they come to me when they're in trouble.
What do you choose to
work in a Catholic School?
I went to a catholic school in
grades K-8. I then went on to a catholic college where I received both my
undergraduate and graduate degrees. As you see, God has been part of my
learning career so I wanted to pass that on to the people I work with. I
couldn't imagine working in a place where I couldn't share my faith or share
what I've learned as I grew up.
Where is your home
parish?
Answer: I am a member of
Christ the King Church.
You'll see me there every week where I am also a Eucharistic Minister.
Do you have any
children?
I have three wonderful sons;
Josh who is 31
Zac who is 27
Jacob who is 24
Anything else you'd
like to tell us?
Answer: I wish there
were more parents to adopt a kid so we could open our doors to more kids who
want a catholic education.
I work with the best staff at All Saints Academy. These teachers really do care about the kids and want the best for them.
I love being part of this school. I love when kids and parents come to you and thank you for the small things you do. Having Christ in the classroom really works.
I got married in the summer of 2006 so I have a new name. I am now Mrs. Barbara Cooper!
