3.    Fourth Grade Teacher Conference:  "Teaching for Success in the Fourth Grade Classroom" will address timely topics including "literacy," "six-trait writing," "at-risk strategies," "flexible grouping."  The Conference will be held at the Columbus Hilton, 3900 Chagrin Drive (614-414-5000).

4.    Protecting God's Children:  Persons working in Diocesan schools as substitutes need to attend one of the "Protecting God's Children" workshops.  For a complete listing of times and places offering the workshop, go to www.cdeducation.org/oym/safe.  Directions for registering can be found at the same address.

5.    High School Principal Opening:  The Diocese of Knoxville is currently accepting applications for the position of Principal of Knoxville Catholic High School.  The successful candidate will be an outstanding educator with a master's degree or above.  Applicants must be a practicing Catholic, with a minimum of three years high school teaching experience.  Preference will be given for high school administrative experience.  Candidates should be strong, motivational leaders and skillful communicators who are capable of working well with clergy, faculty, students and parents.  Salary will be negotiable, commensurate with applicant's qualifications.  Qualified candidates are encouraged to call or write for an application packet.  A completed application packet with curriculum vitae and cover letter must be received by December 1, 2004.  To inquire or receive application material please contact:

6.    Reminder:  The Diocesan LPDC will meet at Saint Anthony School on Thursday, Oct. 7.  Teachers who need to have an IPDP approved or who wish CEU credit for various activities should submit relevant information to the Diocesan Department of Education Personnel Office, 197 East Gay Street, Columbus, OH    43215 by Wednesday, October 6.
