IMPORTANT INFORMATION
1. COMPETITIVE GRANT
PROGRAM: The Ohio Board of Regents announces a
new competitive grant program that provides federal funds to public and private
colleges and universities to support sustained and intensive high quality
professional development for elementary and secondary teachers of mathematics
and science. Under the Improving Teacher Quality Program, which replaces
the Eisenhower Professional Development Program, the Ohio Board of Regents will
fund projects designed to improve the teaching of mathematics and science at the
pre-college level by linking college and university faculty with elementary,
middle, and high school teachers. Proposals are to be submitted to
the Ohio Board of Regents by January 6, 2003.

2. REMINDERS TO
TEACHERS FROM THE LPDC:
A) all teachers
must have a Development Plan approved by the LPDC. This plan is to be
written and submitted to the LPDC as soon as a new certificate or license is
issued to the teacher.
B) goals and
objectives on the IPDP must be written in educational and student centered
language.
C) certificates of
participation/attendance which a teacher receives can be sent at any time to the
LPDC for CEU credit. (The principal's signature must be on the certificate
of participation or attendance.)
D) teachers who
have a non-tax certificate are expected to fulfill the same requirements as
teachers who have a certificate or license.
E) entry year
teachers who have a two year provisional license must complete a formal entry
year program and pass Praxis III in order for the teacher to move to the first 5
year license.
