1. Global Studies Workshop:
This workshop is designed to help teachers understand various cultures from
different regions around the world so that they will be better able to teach
about these cultures to their students. Participants will receive
information about these cultures and will experience aspects of the cultures.
They will have an opportunity to explore how to teach their students about other
cultures.

2. Modern German Culture Workshop:
This workshop is designed to help teachers in grades K-5 understand modern
German culture through comparisons of the lives of children in the U.S. and
Germany. Participants will be provided with classroom-ready lessons and
resources from the Goethe Institute/InterNationes. They will engage in
interactive lessons and hands on activities related to the understanding of
other cultures as specified in the state Social Studies standards.
Participants are eligible to apply for a study trip to Germany.

Liturgy with Bishop James A. Griffin as celebrant. Fr. Donald Senior, CP

held at St. Brigid of Kildare, 7175 Avery Road, Dublin, OH
43017, on Tuesday, August 17, 2004, 9 am to 3 pm. The training, materials,
continental breakfast and lunch are provided free to all participants.

6. Helping Students Develop a Sense
of Passion and Purpose: This Ohio Dominican University Graduate
Workshop is designed to help teachers more effectively inspire a "sense of
passion and purpose" in their students. Helping Students Develop a Sense
of Passion and Purpose" will meet from 4 pm to 7 pm on the following dates:
9/16, 10/21, 11/18, 12/16, 1/20, 2/17, 3/17, 4/21 and 5/19. CEUs, workshop
materials, and refreshments for all participating Catholic Diocese of Columbus
teachers. Space is limited and registration will be taken on a first come,

8. Social Studies Institute of Ohio:
World Studies Summer Workshop - will present a three-day summer workshop for
World Studies teachers of 9th or 10th grade students with two follow-up sessions
that will be held during the 2004-05 school year.
Emphasis for the program will be
placed on aligning classroom assessment and instruction to the Ohio Academic
Content Standards and best practices in order to improve student performance on
the Ohio Graduation Test.
A total stipend of $240 will be paid
to teacher participants: $160 for the Summer Workshop, $80 for the two
follow-up sessions. The Summer Workshop will be offered in four locations:

August 2, 3, and 4 - St George Center, Akron
Region 11 -
August 2, 3, and 4 - Athens High School, The Plains
Region 4 -
August 9, 10, and 11 - Montgomery County ESC, Dayton
