4. Weekly Religion Ideas, March 24,
2004 - Easter: Standard I: E-15;
Standard II: C-4,6; Standard III: B-4,8,9
For Teachers - Easter is such a marvelous season to teach about the new life we have received from our baptism and also as we look around and see the new growth in ourselves and in nature. It is a time to realize what salvation means to us as an individual and community. The entire mystery of Jesus Christ, his life, death and resurrection is salvific for us. We are saved from sin and death. Since Jesus has passed through these, because of our Baptism into Christ, we also have passed through these. Our lives are transformed through Jesus who helps us experience God's saving presence. Before Easter, however, there is Holy Week when we celebrate the paschal mystery of Jesus' death and resurrection. Helping students understand according to their age level, the importance of this liturgical time and the mysteries it celebrates lays a good foundation for their later life.
