IMPORTANT INFORMATION

1.    Teacher Exchange Program (Hungary):  The Ohio National Guard and the Ohio Department of Education are partnering in this unique exchange program to send 10 teachers/administrators for 14 days to Hungary during summer 2004.  These Ohio teachers/administrators would then host their Hungarian counterparts in Ohio during the school year in 2005 for the same length of time.  All travel and lodging/meal expenses for Ohio educators to go to Hungary and for Hungarian teachers/administrators to come to Ohio will be covered by the program.  Projected dates for Ohio educators to visit Hungary are late June to early July 2004.  Exact dates will be determined in consultation with selected districts.
Teachers and principals interested in participating in the above program MUST contact the Diocesan Department of Education Personnel Office (221-5829) by 3/25/04.

2.    Secretarial Luncheon:  The Secretarial Luncheon is an annual event sponsored by SSCO's Secretarial Commission.

4.    Temporary Teacher License Clarification:  To clarify any confusion that exists around temporary teacher licensure, the following should explain the issue:
The law states that a temporary middle childhood license may be issued to the holder of a currently valid standard certificate, or the holder of a provisional or professional license provided that the holder also can show evidence of 20 semester hours in each of the subject areas for which licensure is required. This includes Pre-K through third grade licensed teachers.
For additional information concerning the temporary license standards, visit the ODE web site at http://www.ode.state.oh.us/Teaching-Profession/Teacher/Certification_Licensure/rule_temp.asp.

5.    Principal Opening, Diocese of Columbus:  The pastor of St. James the Less School, Columbus will initiate a search for a principal of the school for the 2004-2005 school year.  Interested applicants must be active, practicing Catholics and must possess - or be eligible for - appropriate Ohio licensure/certification.  For further information contact the Diocesan Personnel Office at 614-221-5829.
