2.      Professional Development Opportunities for Teachers at the Art Museum:  The Columbus Museum of Art is offering educators the opportunity to explore the ideas of "home" expressed in the Wexner Center exhibition Away from Home, in Symphonic Poem:  The Art of Aminah Robinson, and in the museum's permanent collection.  Issues about displacement, leaving home, and coming home will be examined.  Curriculum development and interdisciplinary connections will be made through studio-based activities and curriculum materials.  To register for "The Art of Home:  A Collaborative Program with the Wexner Center for the Arts: on February 8, 2003, contact Adelia Gregory at (614) 292-6493.
            The Columbus Museum of Art is holding "Storyline and Aminah's Stories" on February 22, 2003 at the museum.  The workshop will be based on Symphonic Poem:  The Art of Aminah Robinson.  Participants will explore the Storyline approach to curriculum development and project teaching, and relate it to Aminah's art/process.  For more information, contact Jessica Depp at (614) 629-0359.

3.    Renewal of Doctoral Program at OSU:  The OSU College of Education is renewing its doctoral program in teacher education.  This program in teacher education emphasizes four themes:  development of teachers and learning to teach; program design for and pedagogies of teaching; equity and diversity in teacher education; assessment and evaluation in teacher education.  In addition the program focuses on technology and curricular issues in teacher education.
        The doctoral program in teacher education requires a minimum of either 135 quarter hours beyond the baccalaureate or 90 hours beyond the Master's degree.  Most programs can be completed within three years, based on full-time study.  However, part-time study is permitted.   Graduate school rules and regulations apply.

4.    New Teacher Religious Education Orientation II:   This is the time for new teachers to register for one of the three dates that the New Teacher Orientation II program will be offered.

6.    Our sympathy is expressed to the family of Miss Mary Giest who died last week.  Miss Giest worked in the Bishop Hartley High School guidance office for over thirty years.  She died at the age of 94.
