1.    Fulbright Teacher Exchange Program: Sponsored by the US Department of State, the Fulbright Teacher Exchange Program arranges direct one-on-one exchanges.  In most cases, both teachers secure a leave of absence with pay from their home institutions and then trade classrooms for a school year.  The program is open to educators from K-12 schools.  Requirements are US Citizenship, fluency in English, three years full-time teaching experience, BA degree or higher, current full-time teaching or administrative position.
        The application deadline for the 2006-07 program year is October 15, 2005.

2.    Scholastic Warehouse Book Sale:  The customer appreciation warehouse sale event will take place May 14 - 27, 2005 in Columbus at 4000 Gantz Road, Suite E, Grove City, Ohio    43123.  Times of the sale are weekdays 10:00am - 7:00pm, Saturdays 9:00am - 5pm.

3.    Mark your calendars!!!  The Fourth Great Media Giveaway is coming soon!
The Office of Religious Education and Catechesis will sponsor the Fourth Great Media Giveaway Tuesday, May 31 in the Conference Room at the Catholic Center, 197 East Gay Street, Columbus, OH.  From 9am until 7pm any interested person will be able to choose from a variety of videos, books, textbooks, story books and miscellaneous items.  The Department for Education (The Office of Religious Education and Catechesis, the Office of Education and the Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry) are contributing to the giveaway.
        Don't miss this exciting opportunity.  All are welcome!

4.    Masters in TESOL:  Ohio Dominican University is pleased to announce our new Master of Arts in teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) Program.  Since the number of students who do not speak English as their first language is growing, both at the primary and secondary levels, the need for TESOL teachers is growing as well.  Students enrolling in this program will graduate with the skills and experience necessary to work with speakers of other languages, in the classroom and in the community.

5.    COSI is offering a Science Institute for Grade 3, 4, and elementary special education teachers this summer.  During the Institute the COSI Team utilizes inquiry to teach essential science content.
        The program involves a five day summer session, August 1-5 and two Friday sessions during the school year, October 7 and January 20.  COSI has a grant to cover costs and will reimburse your district for substitute teachers.

6.    Pathwise Training Session 2005-06:  September 22 & 23, 2005, 8:30am-3:30pm each day, 1.0 CEUs available.  All workshop materials provided.  Light continental breakfast and lunch provided.  Location:  to be announced.
        Learn standardized procedures and vocabulary for observation and communicating with entry year teachers or teachers new to the Diocese of Columbus, in this two-day intensive training program designed for mentors.  Participants receive complete workshop materials, training in how to mentor through the Pathwise system, and sample observation materials.

8.    Teaching Positions Available in Bermuda:  Jim Silcott, currently at Bishop Watterson but soon-to-be principal of Mt.         Holy Spirit principal Linda Saelzler and her mentor, former principal Sister Regina Snyder.  Linda received an "exemplary"

 rating for her portfolio which she presented to the State Department in order to complete Praxis III for administrators.
