IMPORTANT INFORMATION
1. Creation of Digital
Teaching Portfolios, St. Brigid of Kildare School Library: 1 semester
hour credit or 2 semester hours credit, Ohio Dominican University.
Instructor - Dr. Clare Kilbane.
A hands-on class providing teachers
the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge required to develop a
professional digital teaching portfolio. Teachers will learn to reflect on
their practice and work with colleagues to develop a portfolio that fulfills the
Diocesan Professional Development Summative Evaluation.
One Semester Hour Class: September 8
3:30 - 5:30 pm
September 29 3:30 - 6:00 pm
October 30 3:30 - 6:00 pm
December 1 3:30 - 6:00 pm
January 12 3:30 - 6:00 pm
Assignment - Learn how to design and develop a basic teaching portfolio
Two Semester Hour Class - 9 Additional Contact Hours - to be
arranged
Develop a more complete teaching portfolio and reflect on the experience
Cost - 1 semester hour - $245.00; 2 semester hours - $490.00

2. Future City Competition:
Future City Competition is a competition for 7th and 8th grade students to help
foster interest in engineering, math and science through hands-on, real world
applications. Teachers who would like their students to participate in the
program should register through the website (www.futurecity.org) and
contact the regional coordinator to complete the registration process and
pay the 25 dollar fee no later than October 15, 2003.

3. Super K Classroom Workshop:
A workshop just for kindergarten teachers will be held in Columbus on
November 17. Presenting the workshop is Sharon MacDonald, an acclaimed
early childhood expert. The workshop will be held at the Concourse Hotel
and Conference Center, 4300 International Gateway.
Graduate credit or CEU credit can be
earned by attending the workshop.

4. Second Reminder: OSU winter quarter fee waivers are due October 3, 2003. Please complete an on-line waiver request.
5. Win up to $15,000 cash for your
school with Tools for Your School: Introducing Tools for Your School
from Polaris Fashion Place! Your school can win up to $15,000 through this
new program designed to help your school raise funds for supplies and equipment.
To participate, all parents,
teachers, and community members have to do is bring your shopping receipts from
purchases made at Polaris Fashion Place dated August 1 - September 30, 2003 to
Guest Reception. Then, each dollar you spend counts as a point.
Guest Reception will record all your points and at the end of the program the
Top 5 Schools with the highest dollar per student ratio will win CASH prizes
totaling $30,000! Plus, shop Mondays and Tuesdays and you will receive
DOUBLE POINTS!
There will be a sign, updated weekly,
located at Guest Reception showing the current top 10 schools. Don't waste
any time. . .encourage your students, faculty, family, and friends to do their
back to school shopping during these dates at Polaris Fashion Place.
The total number of points for each
school is divided by the number of students enrolled in the school. This
produces a dollar per student ratio. The top 5 schools with the highest
dollar per student ratio win!
Prizes for the top 5 schools - 1st
place $15,000 cash - 2nd place $7,500 cash - 3rd place $3,500 cash - 4th place
$2,500 cash - 5th place $1,500 cash.
