IMPORTANT INFORMATION
1. Hot Legal Topics in Special Education: SSCO will present this workshop on April 21 from 9:00am until 3:30pm. Laura Anthony and Susan Geary, both attorneys will be the presenters. 3. "Voices from the Ohio Frontier": Ashland University will host a conference for history/social study teachers on August 12 & 13 which will explore the role of Ohio in the nations history during the frontier period. The program features content-rich sessions led by historians and authors presenting the latest scholarship about this time and place. The conference is of special interest to social studies educators grades 3-12.
Participants may accumulate 10.5 contact hours for CEU credit.

4. Developing Writing and Thinking Skills Across the Curriculum: Collins Education Associates will present this workshop in Columbus on April 28, 2005 at the Concourse Hotel and Conference Center, 4300 International Gateway (Columbus Airport). The program presents a model for a writing-across-the-curriculum/writing-to-learn program by defining five types of writing assignments and the outcomes expected for each. 5. The Middle East Studies Summer Workshop: June 20 - July 1. The workshop will be comprised of daily lectures and presentations on various aspects of the Middle East including culture, language and literature, history, religion, social institutions, folklore, cuisine, art and architecture, and the status of women, as well as lectures on teaching strategies. One day of the workshop will be devoted to a full day tour of various Middle Eastern religious and community organizations. Financial Aid grants in the form of partial tuition and fee authorizations may be available. The workshop is geared primarily toward the needs and interest of K-12 teachers, educators and administrators. The workshop is available on a credit or non-credit basis.

6. U.S. Department of Education to offer Teacher-to-Teacher workshop in Cincinnati: Building on the success of last year's teacher workshops, the U.S. Department of Education will host another series of workshops for teachers and principals this summer. One of these workshops will be held June 20-22 in Cincinnati. Registration and professional development sessions are free. Meals and refreshments will be provided during scheduled workshop activities. Five other workshops will be held in other cities throughout the country.
