Religious Emblems

The Religious Emblem Programs are Nationally Developed Catholic Programs specifically for BSA and GSA Scouting. All participants for these programs must be Catholic and registered members of the specific Scouting Organization. The programs are age specific and in some cases require trained Counselors.

Start, by selecting “Religious Emblems”, next select BSA or GSA, and then select the desired Emblem to review the information and begin the process of earning your Religious Emblem.

BSA Religious Emblems:

  • Light of Christ: Grades 1-2; Cub Scout Program, Parents are primary counselors
  • Parvuli Dei: Grades 3-5; Cub Scout Program, Parents are primary counselors
  • Ad Altare Dei: Age 13-18; Boy Scout Program, Trained counselor is required
  • Pope Pius XII: Scout (15-18)+Male/Female Venturers (15-20) Trained Counselor is required
  • GSA Religious Emblems:

  • God Is Love: Grades K-1; Girl Scouts, Camp Fire, and other Catholic youth organizations, Parent lead
  • Family of God: Grades 2-3; Girl Scouts, Camp Fire, and other Catholic youth organizations, Parent lead
  • I Live My Faith: Grades 4-6; Girl Scouts, Camp Fire, and other Catholic youth organizations, Parent lead
  • Mary, The First Disciple (Marian Medal): Grades 7-10; Catholic youth organizations, Youth directed
  • Spirit Alive: Grades 11-12; Catholic youth organizations, Unit Leader lead

  • Religious Activities

    Religious Activities are open to all male or female youth, and adults, Catholic or non-Catholic. These activities are separated into two groups: Diocesan Activities and Patch Activities. The Diocesan Activities are Catholic-based activities that are held throughout the Diocese of Columbus and are presented by a trained group of adult and youth staff, many of these activities include overnight camping and food as part of the activity fee,. The Patch Activities are activities that may be used as individual or group activities there are a set of requirements listed for each activity. When each of the participants has completed their requirements, the order form and small fee to cover the expense of each of the patches, may then be submitted. The patch order may then be mailed to the group leader, parent or participant.

    Religious Awards

    Religious Awards are specific to the Scouting Programs of the BSA and GSA to recognize the achievement of individual Youth, Adults, and Units. The individual Youth and Adult Awards are initiated through a nomination process, by a non-family member. A CCS Nomination Form must be completed and submitted, before the first Saturday in December of the current year, to be reviewed and selected by the CCS. The Unit Awards are initiated through an application process, which again must be completed and submitted, before the first Saturday in December of the current year, to provide enough time to be reviewed and selected by the CCS
