Because of its importance and because all other forms of catechesis are oriented in some way to it, the catechesis of adults must have high priority at all levels of the Church.

#188--National Directory for Catechesis
Adult Faith Formation is not just a program but a systematic approach to educating adults in all aspects of their faith. While bible studies, parish missions, small faith communities and the like are all excellent examples of formation for adults, any time catechetical leaders work with adults they are engaging in adult faith formation.

So the next time you are planning a sacramental preparation event for parents, or hosting a parent/teacher event, writing a parent letter, hosting an adult service project, or even having coffee and doughnuts, remember these can all be opportunities to help adults nurture their own faith.

Overview

Adult Faith Formation is vital component to any parish faith formation program.

There are many ways to engage in the formation of adults including parish catechetical events such as parish missions, book/bible studies, prayer groups and presentations, etc.

Other opportunities include Catechist Certification Courses and on-line faith formation courses.

We encourage all adults to take advantage of the many opportunities for deepening their faith.

Below are two key documents outlining the goals of Adult Faith Formation from the mind of the US Bishops.

Adult Confirmation

It is the express wish of Bishop Campbell that any adult who has not completed their full initiation in the Catholic Church have the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation by the Bishop himself.

As such, the Office of Divine Worship hosts a special confirmation ceremony at the Cathedral.

Actual Dates are November 21, 2015 and November 5, 2016

Visit the Office of Divine Worship website for details and for how to register.
